Chef Solus and The Explorers Head Back to School!

Hi everyone!

It’s back to school time! We have had a fantastic summer exploring the mystery of the Food Pyramid!

“Wow! I don’t know if I am ready to go back to school. I really wanted to explore the secret door I found at the stairs of the food pyramid!” said Tyler.

“Me, too. I had a lot more places I wanted to look for more new games,” said Tony. “Don’t worry, we can still explore and have Pyramid fun after school and on the weekends,” Katlyn reminded everyone.

That’s right.” Said Chef Solus. “The most important thing is to make sure we are starting our school year on a healthy foot!”

Does you remember our three simple steps to a healthy school year?

“I do! I do!” Elena said excitedly as she ran over to join the conversation.
“Wait a minute, I know too!” said Kevin. “ The first one is to always eat breakfast.”
“I like breakfast, it gives me some brain power!” Jasmine said. “My favorite breakfast is smoothies with lots of fruit and nonfat milk!”
“I like a hot breakfast like pancakes with an egg and a glass of milk,” said Alex. “Not me, I am always running late, so I like to just grab my breakfast sandwich to eat on the way,” laughed Ashley.
What is the second step?
“Healthy snacks!” all the explorers said at once. They all laughed.
“I like snack time,! Chef Solus, are you going to make snacks that are on sticks or have dips? Those are my favs!” exclaimed Tony.

“Okay everyone, I think we better get shopping for some of your favorite foods for breakfast, lunch and snacks for school time!” laughed Chef Solus.

“Wait a minute. We never said the third step! “ said Ashley.
“What is the third step? Chef Solus asked all the explorers.
The explorers all looked at each other. They could not remember the third step!
The third step is to be active like the steps on the food pyramid says. After sitting in a classroom learning all day, our bodies really need some activity. In order to keep your brain sharp, you need to be active every day for at least 1 hour.

Remember, if we all follow these three simple rules than our brains will be supercharged and ready to learn!

Well, we got to go and get ready for back to school time! Always remember to have fun and keep exploring!

Pack some punch in your lunch with crunchy veggies!
You won't have good energy to play if you skip breakfast!

Starting the day without breakfast is like driving a car without stopping to fill up the gas tank. Did you know that your body never turns off, even when you sleep? Breakfast fills your “empty tank” to get you going after a long nights rest without food. Find out healthy ways to start your day! Use this fun tracking sheet to keep track of when you eat a healthy breakfast this week. Aim for everyday!
