I have been talking about the Farm to School month and a great way to remind children where food really comes from. Farm to school programs are not just about where food comes from. Ultimately, it is about feeding children healthy fresh foods. You might also be surprised by the impact thier educational program has.

$354,599,266 in school food dollars was invested in local communities in 2011 and 2012.
56% of schools say they will buy more local food in the future. Expect growth in local plant based proteins, grains, meat, poultry and eggs.
38,629 schools are buying foods for the cafeteria from local growers
21,008,254 students are learning to make lifelong healthy eating choices through farm to school programs
