Monday’s Nourishing Thought:
Camping is family time in nature!
Each year my family goes camping. Some years it is 25 people and other years it is just 8 people. But it doesn't really matter because camping is our family time. It takes us away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and brings us back to our basic needs:
Since you have to bring everything you need, you really start to realize how much you really don't need! You get back to the basics of just plain living (surviving). Now I don't do rugged backpack type camping. We always go to a campground where we have designated spots and a firepit set up.
But none the less, we are away from the city away from cell phone reception, tv, videos, games etc and really enjoy talking with each other. We cook together. Going to the bathroom (yes, we require a real bathroom in our camping experience) is a bit of an adventure, especially at night.
What a great way to enjoy some family time with the children by going camping. Yes, it does require a little planning and preparation but that is part of the fun. You do it together as a family. And you live in the outdoors working together and helping each other.
I took my kids (when they were kids) camping every year and not only was it family time, but it was bonding time. It was about our time to focus on each other.
So if you are looking for a family vacation that can really bring you all together, consider camping.
