There is a big science and marketing guidelines about what type of avatar to choose and why this is important. This is why if you are using gravatar and have chosen to brand yourself by keeping your avatar consistent across different websites, we want to respect that.
you can continue to use your gravatar on our website and it will be set as your default on your profile page. But for those of you that don't have a set avatar, you don't have to worry about which one you choose on our website. We just use avatars only as a visual representation of members when they decide to comment on a page or a recipe or an article or even someone's My Picks basket.
We just thought it would give a positive element about healthy foods which is why our avatars are all very cute fruits or vegetables.
Keeping nutrition fun is part of our key messaging. And we realized this was a simple way to continue that messaging in our parent/teacher section of the website.

Our kids have their own avatars and they have a fun interactive tool to create and customize their own avatars with options for physical features and clothing styles to choose from - kids can be very unique in the avatar they decide to create.
