Future fortified campaign aims to fight malnutrition in children and family
Posted on May 30, 2012 by Maggie LaBarbera
Future Fortified, a campaign to help millions of women and children around the world to gain access the essential nutrients they need to lead healthy, enriched lives.
Currently, there are 1 billion people worldwide who are hungry and 2 billion people who are undernourished.
In the United States, we often focus on our kids eating too much or making healthier food choices. But I wanted to share this important organization because we have to also realize that there are many kids that don't have enough food. And as a mom and nurse that just breaks my heart to think of a starving child.
Future Fortified has several key goals. These include:
-
Increase access to improved nutrition for 50 million women and children by 2015.
-
Build a public constituency for global nutrition.
-
Raise nutrition on the global development agenda and garner support for proven nutrition solutions.
