Get your child ready for school with this quick checklist
Posted on Aug 24, 2012 by Maggie LaBarbera
It is back to school time and we want to make sure your child is ready for a healthy back to school start.
The national school nurse association has a checklist to help you get ready.
Here are some of the key points on the list:
-
Are your children's immunization up to date?
-
Have you reviewed with your child hygiene tips to prevent infections like washing your hands
-
Are bedtime routines re-established. How much sleep does your child need.
-
Use family mealtime as a time to discuss the day and keep communication open. Contact the school if you suspect bullying or other inappropriate behaviors.
-
Buy clothing with your child that they feel comfortable in but are also appropriate for school.
-
It is time to bring homework and afterschool activities into the routine. A calendar or white board can be a helpful reminder.
-
Stay involved in school by joining the PTA and asking the school about their wellness policy.
