It farmer market season and Washington DC kicks off the opening of the USDA Farmers Market for its 18th season on June 6.
Farmers Markets feature locally grown foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, baked goods, honey products, and other home-made products.
If you have not visited your local Farmers Market you are definitely missing out! This is a great way to teach children about foods that are naturally grown and produced at nearby farms.

It is always a good idea to wash the produce under running water. Do not use soap or detergent on foods. It is still a good idea to wash foods even if you are going to peel it.
