My Plate Snowman Scenery

You're never too old to play with your food! Experiment different ways to make healthy foods festive and fun. Create a snowy scene using foods from all five of the My Plate food groups.

Ingredients

  • Butter Knife
  • Snowman Cookie Cutter
  • Snowflake Cookie Cuuter
  • Cutting Board
  • Whole Grain Bread
  • Peanut Butter
  • Banana (sliced)
  • Raisin
  • Carrots
  • Pretzel Sticks
  • Low fat Cheeze slices
  • Bell Pepper (favorite vegetables)
  • Air-popped Popcorn (for edible snow)

Directions

Kids:

Make a peanut butter sandwich: Spread peanut butter on bread and top it off with banana slices

Create snowflakes: Using a snowflake cookie cutter, take a slice of cheese and begin making the snowflakes. Now it's time to create your scene. Place the snowman on a plate. Give him a face, buttons, hat and arms with the raisins, pretzel sticks and carrots. Grab a handful of popcorn and cover the bottom of your plate. Make a tree out of the bell peppers and pretzil sticks (for the trunk). Now plant trees on the plate. Add cheese snowflakes around the top of your plate.

Using the snowman cookie cutter, create a snowman out of the sandwich.
