This spread can be made with
almost any kind of mushroom.
Freezes well, too!
Ingredients
Olive Oil 1 tablespoon
Soy Sauce 1 teaspoon
Savory 1 teaspoon
Thyme 1/2 teaspoon
Nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon
Black Pepper 1/8 teaspoon
Shiitake Mushrooms, chopped 4 cups
Onion, Chopped 1 cup
Garlic Cloves, pressed 1 each
Directions
Adults: Sauté the onion and garlic in the olive oil. When the onion starts to soften, add the shiitake mushrooms and cook over low heat for about 5 minutes.
Adults: Add the remaining ingredients and simmer about 10 more minutes over low heat.
Together: Purée all the ingredients together in a food processor or blender. Serve hot or cold on sliced baguette or crackers.
