Pyramid Power Game:
This is a hangman type game in which the students read hint and attempt to discover the mystery word, one letter at a time. Students will click on the pyramid to start the game and to revel the hint and number of spaces for the mystery word. After reading the hint, the students will click on a letter that they think is in the mystery word.
-
Clicking on a correct letter causes the letter to appear in the blank spaces of the mystery word. Guessing all the right letters will cause the Pyramid to take flight!
-
Clicking on a wrong letter causes one Pyramid food group to change. A warning will appear. Too many wrong letters will destroy the pyramid and end the game.
Materials:
Teaching Tips:
Procedure:
-
Have the students come up with their favorite food or exercise.
-
Using their favorite food or exercises, have the students come up with a sentence that describes that food or activity without mentioning it.
-
Have the students trade sentences with a neighbor and see if they can guess the food or activity described.
-
Guide the students to Pyramid Power where they will work to make the Pyramid take off.
Assessment:
Have students create their own versions of
Pyramid Power using the
Nutrition Encyclopedia to find their own mystery words. Once they choose a word, have them develop their own clues and present the clues the class. The class will then try to solve everyone’s own
Pyramid Power puzzle.
